When I am reading stories in a novel or in the scriptures, if I treat them as mythical, then they will only be mythical in my experience. In other words, as soon as I've finished reading the stories they will cease to have any meaning for me.
On the other hand, when I treat the stories as facts or actual events, they will not only be real in my consciousness, I will even be able to duplicate the experiences.
It matters not whether a story is fact or fiction, what matters is what I choose to believe as real.
